The AYO is internationally recognised for its focus on offering a complete training pathway. With the support of some of Australia’s premier professional orchestras, the long-standing AYO Orchestral Career Development programs offer a critical link for young musicians on the verge of a professional career, and are a key part of AYO’s promise to develop the next generation of outstanding orchestral musicians.
In 2010, AYO is offering fellowships across the full range of orchestral instruments: strings with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO), and wind, brass and percussion with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO). These fellowships will give you the opportunity to work with professional mentors and gain experience that can make the difference when it’s time for that important audition. This is your opportunity to make yourself known and help secure yourself a place on the casual list of a professional orchestra.
In this program, the most advanced instrumentalists are given the chance to work alongside the members of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in Hobart in the preparation and performance of large-scale orchestral repertoire. Featuring Conductor Oleg Caetani, and Piano Soloist Alexey Yemtsov, this is a unique opportunity to perform in a professional orchestra. During this program, you will engage with the TSO musicians and learn more about the demands of professional life and the changing role of the orchestral musician.
