Winners announced for 2010 Dorothy Fraser Scholarship

23 September 2009

Aware of the difficulties facing young women who embark on a career in classical music, the late Dorothy Fraser entrusted her estate to the Australian Youth Orchestra, for the sole purpose of supporting further study by female students of an orchestral instrument. As a result, a scholarship was established in 1993, which provides an award of up to $20,000 to winners of this prestigious biennial scholarship.

Open to outstanding female participants of AYO programs, we are pleased to announce Anya Muston and Emily Dellit as winners of the 2010 Dorothy Fraser Scholarship.  Both violinists are past participants of numerous AYO programs, stretching from 2000 to 2007.  They will each receive $10,000 AUD to go towards their studies in classical music.

Anya Muston will use her scholarship to contribute to her Masters Degree fees at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester where she is continuing her studies with Professor Yair Kless.

Emily Dellit will be using her scholarship to contribute to her Masters Degree fees at the Guildhall School of Music in London where she has just started a two year program studying with David Takeno.
